4th at the Tough One

March 8 2015 – Nantmawr Quarry (UK) – KTM Factory rider Andreas „Letti“ Lettenbichler claims another top 5 result in the 2015 Extreme Enduro season by finishing 4th at the Tough One in the UK.

The conditions at the Tough One came as a surprise, it was sunny  and dry as the wind had done a good job in drying out the soil around the Nantmawr Quarry. The lap was a little shorter compared with the last years and it took about 12-13 minutes to get around:  A mix of cross country, enduro, stones, manmade obstacles and some tougher sections made up for a cool race.

The start of the Tough One is always Le Mans style but running uphill for about 150 meters is a bit of a mission in enduro gear and with a lot of riders squeezing into the narrow path. The track from the start partially went against the direction we had to run to the bikes so some slower runners where almost wiped off the track by the riders who had started their bikes.

„After about 10 minutes I was in third position and held this position for about 1.5 hours into the race battling with Alfredo Gomez. Jarvis and Walker already had a solid lead so I concentrated on defending the third position against Alfredo. Mario Roman joined us for a while but obviously couldn’t keep up our pace.

2 crashes made the difference:

„The race duration was 2.5 hours and it was that duration that made the race a challenge and tough. Technically the track wasn’t too demanding but a lot of riders doing a lot of laps didn’t make the track easier but more tiring. The battle with Alfredo was a blast, I really enjoyed it – it went back and forth all the time. I had two crashes in the last lap so Jonny and Graham passed me and Alfredo made it into the last lap.

I’m happy with the result even though I made some minor mistakes and took away an injured finger which will require some time to heal. The KTM once again was faultless!

Next stop: Erzbergrodeo:

Now I’ll prepare for concentrate on the Erzbergrodeo and will support my son Manuel in his SuperEnduro appearance in France.“
