1st Race – 1st Podium

January 24, 2015 – Alès (France)
 – KTM Factory rider Andreas „Letti“ Lettenbichler starts off with brilliant results at the „Alès Trem“ Extreme Enduro race in Alès France: 3rd in the Prologue, 1st in the KTM FREERIDE E Prologue and 3rd in the main event.

The first edition of the „Alès Trem“ race in France attracted a phenomenal 400 riders including some of the world’s top Extreme Enduro pilots such as Jonny Walker (UK, KTM), Wade Young (RSA, KTM) and Graham Jarvis (UK, Husqvarna). About 100km north of Montpellier the organizers had done a great job in building the tracks and gathering a large crowd.

The prologue had it all, technical, motocross and high speed sections. Two qualifying sessions were followed by a final and a „super final“ with 10 pro and 10 amateur riders. Jonny had a good start, followed by Wade Young and Letti. Graham Jarvis did a great qualification but in the finals he caught a bad start and ended up 7th. It all went well for Letti who managed to get in 3rd behind Wade on 2nd and Jonny on 1st position. A personal highlight for Letti was the special show event riding two laps of the prologue with KTM FREERIDE E bikes only:

„Winning the show event on the KTM FREERIDE E and taking 3rd at the prologue was a great result for me here in Alès. I enjoyed the racing and was happy with my performance in the first races in 2015.

Letti about the main event on Saturday, Jan. 24:

The main event was 3 laps of 62km each but the difficulty increased with each lap. The track was a bit more like a tough cross country track but since we had to do three laps we were on the bikes for about 4 hours and this was the challenging part of Alès Trem. I started from 3rd position and the whole race was a good battle. Wade had a crash at the beginning so I was second for a while but made a mistake, too, and got passed as well. So it went back and forth and Jonny, Graham and I rode most of the second lap together. Those two guys had some problems and I came in first for the tank stop but made another mistake after the tank stop. So everybody made mistakes here and there which made up for an exciting race.

Forced to reduce the speed due to technical problems in the last lap:

In the third and last lap I had to slow down because the mousse faded away and I just had to make sure to get to the finish line with more or less flat tires. The track itself was a fun ride, speedy sections as well as a bit more technical single trails and uphills in an old abandoned coal mine. A big crowd made up for a cool overall experience and I’m happy taking away the 3rd place in the main event behind Graham in 2nd and Jonny in 1st.

Now I’m preparing for Hell’s Gate in mid of February, clearly with the intention to finish the race and to get on the podium!“
